- Filming for much of SpaceCamp took place in Alabama, but the launch scenes were shot at the Kennedy Space Center. In the movie, a group of kids learns about the space shuttle at summer camp. They get to sit in the shuttle while the engines are being tested, but the shuttle gets accidentally launched into space. The kids and their teacher, an astronaut who would rather be on a mission, have to figure out how to fly it back to earth.
