- Blair Underwood plays Bobby Earl, a black man sentenced to death for murdering a young white girl. Eight years later, he asks Paul Armstrong, a Harvard law professor, to take his case. Armstrong soon finds evidence that leads to another killer, but comes to realize that the people he meets are not what they seem. Sean Connery takes on the role of the professor and Laurence Fishburn portrays the sheriff.
