South Carolina native Don Boone started the Boone Bait Company in the early 1950s, soon after moving to Winter Park. For one year, in 1957, the company produced a line of Gadabout Gaddis lures, endorsed by Roscoe “Gadabout” Gaddis. Known as “The Flying Fisherman,” Gaddis hosted a long-running television fishing show. After his partner acquired the company, Boone began another company, called Don’s Baits.
