A Historic House in a Capital City
Introduction
The Knott House has stood through nearly 200 years of Tallahassee history. The capital city was less than twenty years old when the house was built around 1843. The house and the people who lived there through the years witnessed much transformation in Tallahassee. The structure itself has undergone extensive modification and different uses, from home to headquarters of a Civil War general, boarding house, rental property, home again, and finally as a museum. The story of the Knott House is a story of change.
