Florida Remembers World War II

"Florida Remembers World War II"documents the state's response to the war, including patriotic activities on the home front and the establishment of military training bases throughout the state. According to official statistics, approximately 248,000 Floridians served in World War II, including women and African-Americans.

The exhibit opened as a temporary exhibit at the Museum of Florida History on December 7, 2001, the 60th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. This exhibit, produced by the Museum as part of the Department of Veterans' Affairs Florida World War II Living Memorial project, extended through July 4, 2002, in Tallahassee. The exhibit also traveled to Pensacola, Miami and Orlando. On November 11, 2004, a redesigned version of the exhibit re-opened as a permanent display at the Museum of Florida History.
