Confetti brand citrus label
This festive celebration is depicted on a citrus label from the Spada Fruit Sales Agency. Andrea Antonio Francesco Guiseppe Spada was born in Marcedusa, Italy in 1884. He migrated to the United States via Ellis Island in 1902. He sold produce in New York and from 1913 to 1930 ran the Andrew Spada & Co. produce company with his brother Domenico. By the 1940s, he established Spada Fruit Sales in Clearwater, Florida, and the Spada Fruit Packing Plant in Thononasassa, Florida. His son Andrew Spada Jr. moved to Tampa in 1943 and for 63 years was the owner and president of Spada Fruit Sales Inc. They primarily sold oranges and watermelons. Like many Florida citrus growers, the Spadas often use images of women to advertise their products.
