DIRECTIONS
From I-275, north or southbound, use the Pier Exit (Exit 10) and follow I-375 to 4th Street North (second traffic light off the highway). Turn right and travel two blocks to Second Avenue North and turn right. Continue on Second Avenue North, pass the Bay Walk complex and continue onto the Pier Approach. The St. Petersburg Museum of History is located immediately on the left side on the Pier Approach. The museum offers free parking for its patrons. Parking is available behind the museum.
The purpose of the St. Petersburg Museum of History is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of St. Petersburg and the Pinellas Peninsula; to increase and facilitate the understanding and appreciation of this unique area for the community and its visitors; to maintain an archival library and a museum in which to display collections and provide educational programs that will promote, reflect and celebrate our cultural heritage.
World War II artifacts can be found included as part of various exhibits within the museum. In addition, the museum archives maintains a collection of WWII era photographs, posters, and scrapbooks. Images of Merchant Marine training are included in the photograph collection.
