DIRECTIONS
The Harry S. Truman Little White House is located on Front Street at the intersection with Caroline Street in the historic Truman Annex.
This site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
As President Franklin Roosevelt’s vice president, Harry S. Truman became President upon FDR’s death in April 1945. Truman, as the United States’ thirty-third President, presided over the surrender of Germany and Japan to end World War II. Originally constructed as a two-family home for the U.S. Navy base commandant and paymaster, President Truman had this structure remodeled for use as his vacation home. Finding Key West an excellent spot to relax from the affairs of state, President Truman visited this site 175 times between 1946 and 1952, often bringing other government officials as his guest. Furnished as it would have been during President Truman’s visits, this facility is open to the public as “Florida’s Only Presidential Museum.”
