Apollo 8
Apollo 8 launched on December 21, 1968. The first crewed mission to orbit the Moon, it provided a significant step towards a lunar landing.
This cover features the first “twin stamps” issued by the US Post Office. Twin stamps are a connected pair of stamps with one continuous image.
The design of these twin stamps, first issued in 1967, was based on a 1965 Gemini mission spacewalk.
