A Decade of Achievement

The pair of commemorative stamps on this cacheted cover celebrates ten years of the American space program from 1961 to 1971. The cacheted cover is addressed to US Representative Don Fuqua of Florida who at the time was serving on the Committee on Science and Astronautics, later renamed the Committee on Science and Technology. Connected pairs of stamps with one continuous image are sometimes referred to as “twin stamps.” The US Post Office issued these stamps on August 2, 1971, at Kennedy Space Center.
