Challenger License Plate
On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart and disintegrated following its launch at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This 1987 Florida specialty license plate, which debuted on January 1, 1987, after the disaster, commemorates the Challenger Space Shuttle crew. It was the nation’s first specialty license plate.
