Depression Glass Cake Stand
Seen here is a footed lavender cake stand. The stand’s glass is cut with abstract floral and geometric motifs on the underside of the flat, circular top. The cake stand is made of Depression Glass, an affordable but flawed version of glass introduced in the mid-1920s as an alternative to the expensive handmade and crystal glass of the day. Even today, Depression Glass remains a popular collectors’ item for its unique colors and patterns. (Collection of the Museum of Florida History)
