  • The Bull-Dogger appeared in 1922 as one of the first black westerns ever made. This Norman Studios movie celebrated the contribution of the African American cowboy. Bill Pickett, rodeo champion and inventor of the technique called bull-dogging, appeared in the lead role. In 1995, the U.S. Postal Service honored Pickett with a stamp in its “Legends of the West” series.
