History at High Noon: Space and the Sunshine State

On July 16, 1969 the Apollo 11 was launched at the Kennedy Space Center. Fifty years later, Florida takes time to celebrate the remarkable influence this state has had on space travel. Join us as Ms. Michelle Sunset, Exhibit Manager at Florida Historic Capitol Museum, presents Florida-specific stories about the naming of Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center, the relationship between NASA and Disney, and astronaut John Young. She will also discuss the Florida Historic Capitol Museum temporary exhibit, The Moon, Stars, and Sunshine State. Please note the Museum is currently seeking a new operator for the café and food is not available for purchase at this time. Food and drink are not permitted in the Museum theater. Before or after the program, be sure to visit the Museum of Florida History and Florida’s History Shop to see what’s new! The program is free and open to the public.
