History at High Noon: The Mastodons of Wakulla: Recent Investigations of New and

Dr. C. Andrew Hemmings of the Aucilla Research Institute, Monticello, Florida will discuss the recent work at Wakulla Springs. Mastodon remains have been recovered from Wakulla Springs since at least the 1830s and often scattered around the world from there. Current investigations of the Vickery Mastodon, just outside the swimming area, are discussed along with new information about what happened to some of the old finds, and why they can still be very informative to us today. Please note the Museum is currently seeking a new operator for the café and food is not available for purchase at this time. Food and drink are not permitted in the Museum theater. Before or after the program, be sure to visit the Museum of Florida History and Florida’s History Shop to see what’s new! The program is free and open to the public.
