Mary Harwood Caldwell

Mary Harwood Caldwell (1897–1986) taught grade school and became the first woman county school superintendent in her native state of Virginia. She worked as a home demonstration agent for Santa Rosa County, and served as Florida’s first lady from 1945 to 1949, while her husband, Millard Caldwell was governor.
